BIO
At a birthday party many years ago, two guests bought me some life drawing classes at the AGO. Never having taken any classes since university, I jumped right in. The work on this site is from my first year of painting right up until the present. I will add to it as I go along. I started with acrylics and am now loving oil. I did a lot of figurative and still life painting in the beginning since that was easiest to manage in a studio.
Recently I have devoted at least half my time studying sailboats both at mooring and in action. Who knows what the next years will bring? I am confident I will become looser and more abstract or, tighter and more minimalist. Ha. I find that’s the thrill of painting – it can lead you on, irrespective of your planning. You do your sketches and value studies, think composition and colour temperatures, yet still the process of actual painting seems to have a mind of its own. Great sport, that’s all I have to say.
